mengenang natrah

mengenang natrah ibarat mengenang semula imbasan silam yang pernah berlaku di bumi Malaya suatu ketika dulu. pasti ada juga yang tertanya-tanya siapakah wanita ini, yang sememangnya generasi kita tidak pernah mengenali, tidak seperti artis-artis yang kita kenali pada dini hari. biar aku terangkan, aku pun bukannya hebat sangat, tapi aku hanya menulis hasil nukilan aku sekadar apa yang telah aku baca dan ingati.

natra lebih dikenali dengan nama penuhnya nadra maarof atau nama belandanya bertha hertogh. beliau dilahirkan di Pulau Jawa, Indonesia pada tahun 1937. pada mulanya, ibu natrah, adeline menyerahkannya kepada che aminah mohammad untuk membesarkannya kerana dipercayai ayah natrah, sarjan adrianus telah ditawan tentera jepun.

setelah itu, bermulalah konflik perkauman dan keagamaan yang akhirnya telah menyebabkan berlakunya Rusuhan Natrah pada 1950 di Pulau Singapura. Hal ini berlaku apabila, ayahnya mula menuntut hak penjagaan natrah setelah beliau dilepaskan oleh pihak jepun sewaktu tentera amerika menyerang peabuhan hiroshima dan nagasaki di bumi matahari terbit tersebut.

pada masa yang sama, che aminah telah meminta bantuan peguam encik ahmad ibrahim untuk mendapatkan semula hak penjagaannya kerana khuatir dia akan menukar agamanya selain daripada islam yang telah dianutinya. akhirnya, encik ahmad dikenali sebagai tokoh yang disegani kerana telah berjaya membawa kes tersebut dan menjadikan hak penjagaan natrah kepada che aminah. setelah itu, natrah pada usia 13 tahun telah berkahwin dengan mansor adabi, seorang peguam dan guru. disebabkan berlakunya pertikaian antara undang-undang perkahwinan belanda dan juga hak penjaga ke atas anak-anak berstatus belanda, akhirnya natrah telah dibawa dan diserahkan kepada pihak belanda. di sinilah, kejadian yang paling mengejutkan telah berlaku. dia telah memeluk agama kristian, menjadikannya seorang yang murtad daripada agama Islam.oleh itu, berlakulah rusuhan di singapura pada 1950 berkenaan peristiwa yang mengubah persepsi masyarakat mengenai kepercayaan natrah yang kian rapuh ekoran berada berjauhan daripada keluaraga angkatnya di Terengganu dan juga suaminya, mansor adabi.

setelah itu, natrah telah memutuskan ikatan perkahwinan dengan mansor seterusnya mengahwini johan gerardus kerana telah mengetahu bahawa mansor akan berkahwin dengan zaiton jahuri, iaitu anak muridnya. beberapa tahun berlalu, akhirnya natrah dituduh cuba membunuh suaminya ekoran penyakit sakit jiwa yang dihidapinya. sungguhpun begitu, pihak belanda menafikannya kerana ingin menutup keaiban mereka sendiri. selepas itu, beliau telah berkahwin dan bercerai dengan tom ballermans sebelum berhijrah ke bumi amerika bersama pasangannya ben pischel, tanpa mendirikan rumah tangga.

pada tahun 2009, beliau menghembuskan nafasnya yang terakhir di tanah air belanda setelah bertahun-tahun bertarung penyakit leukimia yang dihidapinya.

pada pendapat saya, natrah tidak sepatutnya menukar agama kerana dia sudahpun mendirikan rumah tangga dengan suaminya secara rela dan seterusnya menjadi warganegara tanah melayu. namun disebabkan oleh sikap rakus belanda yang sentiasa ingin melihat agama islam yang diasaskan nabi muhammad saw dalam kejatuhan, maka mereka melaku perkara yang sedemikian. aku secara jujur berpendapat pihak malaya boleh memujuknya, tapi apakan daya, takdir illahi menentukan segalanya, cuma pa yang boleh kita harapkan adalah supaya ikhtibar natrah ini mampu menjadi kesan yang mendalam kepada setiap insan yang memahami wanita yang masih dalam pencarian akidahnya di muka bumi yang fana ini.

p/s: teater natrah yang ditayangkan di ib sudahpun memasuki musim yang ke dua. sungguh seronok kerana banyak pengajaran dan ikhtibar yang dpat diambil daripada peristiwa yang melibatkan kaum dan akidah wanita kaukasian ini.

pain in life

the rain is drizzling the moment i write this post. let me begin with today's post with this simpe,yet meaningful word. PAIN. I believe that everyone has heard this word before. It sounds really harsh to some because this phrase has affected people's lives. but to me, this means that every one has to be stronger than before. that is why the saddest moment of their lives have made each of them more approacheable to future. I believe that it does not refer solely to one's feelings or thoughts,it can include a whole bunch of exam's results, losing someone from incidents, knowing the bitter truth that you have an untreatable disease. hrmmm. I always keep thinking of this, but it is the parcel of everyone's life. Every cloud has its silver lining.

As for Asasi UM, LIFE can be quite challenging because juggling with studies of 8 subjets is not that easy. Never mind, after 5 gruelling months, those moments surely be treasured. Soon after, all of us will be leaving Pasum, as what people love to say. About the degree courses right after asasi, I can see that all of the faculties have their own pros and cons. What I can say is that, I SERIOUSLY could not figure out what I am going to be in the future. Sounds scary,though but that is what I am thinking right now. another feeling of sighness. dentistry, medicine, engineering and even computer science faculty, all are giving and driving me nuts.

What ever it is, I plan to make use what I already have. I really and seriously thought of using my piano skills to teach other, or at least make people want to listen to this sort of music as a way of therapies. I just dont want to waste my money and the funds that have been invested on me just to finish my Grade 8 Piano without contributing something significantly. By the way, I skipped my grade in order to complete my Grade 8 in shorter time and saved my money from being used to pay the examiner from England and Royal School of Music, UK.

In the future, I really hope that I could have my music shop, selling all sorts of pianos and also other musical instruments, and also teaching people to play their favourite musical items. aPART from that, my Kumon experience should not be left just like that. I aspire to enter the Kumon Completer's Club in Malaysia, precisely in order to share opinios and views with other completers from the whole country. I feel quite upset because supposedly I joined the club right after I completed the English Programme in January 2008, but I have to enter the boarding school. So, there is simply no way that I could participate the activities that are conducted bt the completers. Currently, there are 267 completers in English, 150 in Mathematics and 11 in Chinese. Besides I also want to open the Kumon Centre in some places because I could see the prospect as a Kumon Operator is pretty wide, plus the income keeps increasing because peolpe keep sending their children to Kumon.

Even if I dont be a doctor nor an engineer, I still have these back up plans. So, I hope that in the future, I probably would be able to achieve this degree of satisfaction.

sem 2

new thing i guess will come in the future as I believe that new semester always brings new hope and dreams. It is not easy to think that learning 8 subjects at a time is just flipping through the pages of the lecture's note and so on. But, I have to wait for the result of sem 1. I dont know why they decide to release the results quite late. Since some people say that the result would be on the 2nd week, some say that it would be the 3rd or 4th week of this semester. so, I really have no idea when the result will come out. Although it is not important for placement in overseas, but this asasi result will determine the courses and universities that each people are subjected to. there will be 2 phases for the submission and registration of the degree programme in public universties in Malaysia. If I was not mistaken, around January to March 2011.

for spm candidates of 2011, semoga berjaya mengenggam straight a+. just do the best in life. at least, they got adjusted to the new grading system for some time, unlike ours. Memang terkejut bila tiba2, gred a+,a,a- diperkenalkan sebab untuk spm 2009 tiba2 jadi macam tu.

sem 2 have started, just waiting for the result, cepatlah keluar result tu.

THE START OF NEW SEMESTER

TODAY, 22/11/2010, marks the new day of semester 2. I could hardly thought that 2 weeks were just a matter of days. It was not enough for me as a student in Asasi because learning for 8 and 9 weeks straight without any study leave before taking the exams is so stressfull. I wonder if IB, AUSMAT and A-LEVEL students would have the same encounter, but I don't seriously assume that our asasi is similar to that international pre-university programme. THe result remains unrelased until the 2nd week I guess. Some friends said that the result would be on this coming Friday, while one lecturer told to us that it will certainly be in the 3rd or 4th week of lecture. I could not stop pretending that I did not feel anything about this final exam result because it is important to all the students.It is definitely not about to pass the requirements for getting places in overseas universities,(a level , ib ausmat and so on), but it is to determine the places and courses in IPTA in Malaysia based on our exam results. So, it is crucial to see that strings of a's from that particular result slip.

The first day started really well. Chemistry and Maths(algebra and calculus combined together) went quite fast as usual, because in PASUM, everything is like a bullet train express. Just hoping for the best. Kalau x dapat semua a pun, adalah hikmahnya kenapa x dapat kan, so in the meantime, just focus what I have learnt and wait fot the judgement day in Blok Pensyarah, UM.

After all, Semester system is not the same as the school schedule because we will tend to leave the previous topics far behind, except for few basics info that we need to acknowledge for this second and final semester as an asasi student.

By the way, the SPM 2010 EXAM will kick off tomorrow with BM Kertas 1 as the 1st paper and the rest for many days latter. I just hope that the students, especially those in KSAH AND SERATAS-CLASS OF 2010 will do thier very best in this important examination of all time as a Malaysian student.

p/s: hope to give some words of encouragement to others and also to students of asasi um.

UJIAN DAN BALASAN ALLAH

Banjir in Alor Setar. This will be in my mind forever. On 6th of November, berlakulah kejadian yang tidak dijangka-jangka oleh seluruh warga Alor Setar, khususnya di JTW. Memang ini tidak pernah berlaku dalam sejarah kewujudan Alor Setar sejak 1700 lagi. Namun, pada tahun 2010, kuasa illahi sememangnya lebih kuat dan jauh lebih besar daripada kemampuan manusia.
I went home, knowing the fact that it started due to overflowing of water current from the Siamese Damp Vault in Northern Kedah and Thailand Border. Plus, Alor Star has the same level as the sea, so this makes things even worse because the water cannot flow to the SEA anymore( the sea is overflowed). I didnt expect these to happen at my own home soil but GOD'S FATE simply cannot be cheated by its predicament. So, as Muslims, we all as to accept the fact that it can be both as blessing and revenge towards us.
Whatever it is, PASUM final exam has came to an end and I am waiting for the result day. This flood situation definitely makes me aware that we should take our concern towards the environment, our Earth. Now, modernization takes place so greatly in advance that it at some particular stages, have resulted in the disturbance and foul play of mother's nature. Sebab tulah, kita tak boleh sesuka hati nak buang sampah sana sini, buat sesuatu projek tanpa perancangan yang teliti and so on. SO, I beleive in a systematic approach. Hopefully, our goverment will take huge lessons from this flood situation in Kedah and Perlis.

p/s: Alor Setar memang tak pernah banjir dalam sejarah penubuhannya. Pada masa yang sama, kejadian gempa bumi, Gunung Berapi DI Indonesia, Banjir Besar di Pakistan and so on typhhoon, so insaflah wahai manusia sekalian. Sedarlah bahawa tanda2 awal kiamat sudah banyak yang berlaku dan berada di sekelilingmu.
